Question Fibaro Home Automation System - anyone using it?

Fibaro recently started selling this in North America. I saw a review on Youtube and the guy doing the review said it was full of bugs and not yet fully developed. For the money they are asking for Home Centre 2, I would hope it would be bug free and reliable. Love the Z-wave compatibility and their styling is excellent, but for home automation we need function over form. My brother is currently using the instieon software and product line and has had no issues.

    Thanks.

What sort of things is it automating? Fairly easy to set stuff up with arduino/rasperrypi/beaglebone/spark with xrf or xbee to do this yourself.

The automation project is nothing out of the ordinary. Lights, motion sensors, camera, window blinds, smoke detector, flood detectors - that is what I envision as the type of automation to be done. Was thinking about z-wave since there are so many companies that have product offerings. I currently have a mac mini acting as a entertainment centre 'brain' running plex. I could run software on that like Insteon which would be compatible with z-wave, but think I would get more functionality from a standalone system. The other side is that I am complicating a relatively simple procedure and running up the expenses unnecessarily. Thanks for the heads up on arduino/beaglebone et al, I will look into them.

I am in the planning stages for this so still need to acquire the blinds, but I was planning on the Somfy blinds and curtains as I know they work well in the home automation scheme.

    Thanks to Praetor
