Hi, I have a Clarion NX700E double din multimedia unit fitted in the car. For the past 12 months the sat nav has struggled to get a GPS connection. On a good day it can take over an hour to connect, other times we may go a week without getting a connection then it suddenly connects! Even when it gets a GPS connection it drops every few minutes and generally gets confused.

I've tried restarting the unit and have installed the latest map update. There don't appear to be any other software updates available as the unit is about 4 years old. We don't live in a built up area and prior to the problems we always had a good signal.

I guess I'd like to know what my options are. If I took it to a car audio shop would they be able to check whether the unit is getting a GPS signal? Is it possible to boost signal strength by adding a new receiver? Can I install alternative sat nav software like Garmin or TomTom or restore to factory settings? Or am I likely to need a new unit? Thanks Steven
