If you cannot think of a use off the top of your head I wouldn't even bother mate. Just something else to throw away when you get bored of being able to do nothing of use with it. If you want to refresh Solaris skills then go for it and then lob it. I have had all sorts of daft kit and then regretted making space for it over the years including Bull Estrellas running AIX and stuff of that ilk.

Your probably right. I still have an old (off the top of my head) IBM AIX machine collecting dust in the loft.

You know what its like though when someone is offering kit for free, I always feel the need to justify having it :-)

Surely the justification is, it is free and being offered to your good self?

From the oracle website "Several distros of Linux are supported on SPARC Hardware."

worth a pop I reckon.. I used to enjoy life on a sparc controlling the digital dealerboard system I maintained back in the nineties..

Also they use very little power so as a server running costs are very low..

Had one knocking around for a while a few years back. Never found a use for it so it ended up at the local dump.

I didn't think these were that low power?

Doorstop? Strip for parts and sell on eBay?
