Default The Sun - A test shot for tomorrows Eclipse (or partial eclipse for us in the UK)

The Sun successfully photographed in preparation for tomorrows Solar Eclipse.

All dependant on cloud of course. Looks like I managed to capure a sun spot as well in the top left. All optics checked for dust and all clean plus the aperture used would result in no dust on the lens/filters showing up. Click to view it larger.

WARNING - People, Be very careful if you're going to photograph the Eclipse with your Compact cameras or phone. Especially, you must NEVER put your eye to the view finder. You risk frying your retina and permanently damaging your sight. Plus you also risk damaging your camera or phone camera.

This shot was taken with two '10 Stop' filters - Exceptionally dark filters that block out a hell of a lot of light AND also via the screen, not the view finder.

    Canon 100-400L @ 400mm, f/5.6, ISO 100 ev -2

Totes jeally. My ND filters didn't arrive in time. Will be settling for some shitty pinhole shots.

You'll be getting some crackers tomorrow. Look forward to seeing 'em!

    Thanks to Cosmicpore

I must have left just as you replied. I think one ND Grad would have been risky. There was a point when cloud cover diffused the son adequately enough to allow shots with no filters though.
