ASCOT
THE TROY ASSET MANAGEMENT & BROWN ADVISORY NOVICES’ STEEPLE CHASE – 2.30PM
PUFFIN BILLY loves Ascot, having won three of his four starts at the track and even though he has to concede weight all round, is fancied to win again. The trip is perfect for him and he has not had a hard season. He looked very good when winning at the track last November and comes into the race in good form, having won reasonably comfortably at Leicester on his final start. When I look to next season he is the one runner in the race that I feel can make an impression in decent company, so I will be disappointed if he is beaten.
LIMERICK
HUGH MCMAHAON MEMORIAL NOVICE CHASE – 4.35PM
I find it hard to believe that RULE THE WORLD has not been able to win over fences yet. I thought his jumping on his chase debut was excellent and he almost beat Adriana Des Mottes, conceding twenty pounds and she went on to finish placed in two Grade One races, including the RSA Chase. Last time out Rule The World went very close despite his yard being out of form and the good news this time is that Mouse Morris has had a recent winner, so things are better in that department. He was a classy hurdler, who jumps fences well, so should run a big race on ground and trip that suits. Val De Ferbet is the obvious danger and fully respected. I was impressed with him first time out and although he ran below form last time out, I can see him bouncing back and he represents a serious challenger.
