cleaver cnut lol I wouldn't have thought of that. Still its great for a backup if you don't have your mot cert or put it safe and forgot where it is, just like I did last week

im a class 1&2 mot tester and we use this service at work to check MOT status for vehicles at work, even our MOT computer (VTS) wont allow testers to check the MOT status of vehicles before we MOT them

Are the VTS machines still on dial up ?

Quite useful if you are a hired driver and want to make sure the vehicle your about to drive is legal before you get in trouble with the law.

yeah, switching to online system this year - supposedly, knowing DVSA they will cock it up and will be delayed for x months

Handy that for checking other ppls cars, but shame it doesn't tell you when its due for renewal. I suppose though, that would be diamond info for Insurance companies so i'm not surprised.

Did the installs for the new machine a few years ago, had to go through rigorous checks form VOSA to install them.

Never realised how much the garages hate VOSA. Got pulled for speeding by the old bill and gave him my VOSA badge as id. After he saw it didn't ask me any questions just said that's fine and let me on my way.
