That’s going to please owners of HTC One M8 for Windows. HTC, for all intents and purposes, is the second most active Windows Phone partners, at least in terms of standings.

While new companies have boarded the train, the lack of action from the likes of Samsung and Huawei has meant that a distinct lack of premium Windows Phone smartphone options. HTC at least came good on its promise when it released the Windows Phone equivalent of its One (M8) handset.

And now the company has made another promise.

That, of releasing the Windows 10 for Phones update to this handset, sometimes after when Microsoft launches its new mobile operating system.

This was confirmed on the official Twitter account of HTC USA:

@diegoserrano4 Yes, as we'll provide software updates to the HTC One M8 for Windows for 2 years after its launch.

Part of the company’s commitment of supporting its handsets for two years after launch, this.

As to when we can expect an update to Windows 10 on this device, owners are probably in for a little wait here. Microsoft has had a torrid time porting the new operating system to some of the more popular Lumia smartphones, with stability issues and other performance bugs.

A delay may be on the cards, but at least One (M8) users will get the new OS some point in the future.
