What’s On at Play Blackpool?
The UK’s favourite Arcade, Indie & Retro video gaming expo is back for 3 days at the Norbreck Castle Exhibition Centre on the 2nd, 3rd & 4th May 2015. Fansof gaming are in for a real treat!PLAY Blackpool is brought to you by the organisers of PLAY Expo and will be jam packed with hundreds of games, consoles, arcades, traders, exhibitors and cool features.
At PLAY Blackpool 2015 we have an exclusive first UK hands on preview of SkySaga: Infinite Isles on the show floor as well as a PS4 Zone featuring loads of cool PSN titles such as the brilliant multiplayer Towerfall Ascension and AAA-titles including Little Big Planet 3, Dive Club and Pro Evo 2015. Plus, for the first time at PLAY Blackpool we will have a dedicated Minecraft Zone where we will be running a Hunger Games map as well as a standard Minecraft world where you are encouraged to build and explore.
PLAY Blackpool will have a tear-inducing nostalgic collection of all your favourite retro consoles andcomputers. Come and play classic games on the machines you owned when you were still at school or finally get your hands on some of the rarer or more unusual consoles you only ever read about.We will have hundreds of machines running classic and modern-classic games – Sega’s, Nintendo’s, Atari’s, Playstation’s, Commodore’s, Spectrum’s, Xbox’s, Amstrad’s, Neo Geo’s, PC Engine’s – almost every games console you can think of will be at PLAY Blackpool

PC gamers don’t get left out either – the Replay LAN will feature classic networked games from the FPS,Realtime Strategy and Driving genres.Ever fancied driving a Formula One car? Well now is your chance as this year we will have a full sized Formula One Racing Car featuring state of the art simulation software for you to try your hand at.
Of course with Blackpool being the Daddy of all seaside arcades we will be a featuring huge video game arcadecontaining many classic arcade machines – but all set to free-play so no need for pockets full of coins. Outrun, Pacman, Donkey Kong, Street Fighter, Space Invaders, Space Harrier and so many more classics will be at PLAY Blackpool.
If you are looking for some gaming goodies our trading hall will definitely be right up your street. We have an entire hall filled with all manner of gaming and merchandise retailers – so whether you are in the market for a cool gaming T-Shirt, some Nintendo Plush toys or that elusive game you have been trying to add to your collection for years, PLAY Blackpool will meet your needs.
Indie game fans will be in for a treat as well at this show. Once again indie game developers will be bringing an eclectic selection of new and retro inspired modern games which will also be playable at the show. Some games will be shown on the awesome virtual reality system Oculus Rift!Fantastic games such as Terra Incognita (Back to Basics Gaming), Data Hacker: Reboot (New Reality Games), Shoot ‘Em Up Kit (Tall Studios), Horizon Shift (Flump Studios), Theo & Lizzy (Butcherlabs) and Jockey Rush (Strategic Designs) are all confirmed with more titles to be announced.
If you think you are pretty hot at gaming you can prove it at PLAY Blackpool. Not only do we have one of the qualifying heats of the Classic Gaming Championships at the show, but we will have all manner of quirky and well loved tournaments for you to get your game on to thanks to those wonderful guys and gals atRetroCollect and RetroGrade Gamer.Our modern tournaments will include Fighting Games, FPS, Sports and Driving games – details will follow shortly. There are some great prizes to be won and all tournaments are free to enter. So whether you think you’re Fantastic at FIFA, Superb at Street Fighter, Cool at Call of Duty or even King of Kong, PLAY Blackpool will be right up your street.
We will also be hosting a number of special guest Q&A sessions – this year we have industry legend Andrew Oliver as a confirmed guest and Andrew Hewson will be on a Q&A panel with other former Hewson Consultants alumni. Also, at this years expo we have the first European public screening of a brand new documentary telling the story of Atari and how they created a new industry. We will be holding two charity screenings of the film on Saturday and Sunday nights in the onsite cinema.
We’ve even got a room dedicated to Board Games – our good friends at Dark Cleo Productions will be running some beginner and advanced games so whether you’re a seasoned pro or just curious about role playing games we’ve got things covered for you. And of course, a gaming expo wouldn’t be complete without a Cosplay Masquerade. Come dressed as your favourite gaming character or just marvel at the creativity of others.
