On topic and as a cyclist in London, this is not 'The Answer'. It is certainly very good, but you still have to reply on drivers looking and being alert.
In the video it showed a couple of near misses and also a cyclist going into the back of a car that slammed the breaks on. Not sure how this paint would have prevented them..
Plus if you look at the RoSPA website, 80% of accidents happen during the day (2013 statistic).. http://www.rospa.com/road-safety/adv...facts-figures/
To eliminate the 20% at night would be a great achievement. I understand this is currently a free product, how long will it remain free for is the question?
However the cyclists do have to ensure that they are visible and vigilant too. Relying on a can of paint is stupid.. I am very very aware when I am on the road, if another cyclist wants to go past me then so be it! I would rather get home late and alive than half way home and dead.
In London we have the new wider cycling lanes, cars cannot enter them because of raised kerbs. It is the only way forward really, to keep the two separate as much as possible.

Funny, when I read this I was considering as a responsible road user, it wouldn't be a bad idea to paint for example a thick stripe down the sides of my car.
Then I thought the nightmare of declaring it to the insurance, then maybe bring in a crash where I forgot to apply it after it had worn off after a heavy storm rendering my insurance void or something daft like that (also my insurance specifically won't cover modified cars which I'm guessing which would apply to this).
So the only thing stopping me from applying this to my car is stupid rules.
Reading online it seems masses of the biking community are against Volvo and consider this victim blaming. In my eyes, Volvo is a pioneer in technologies to consider the safety of the road users other than cars, and this is a novel innovation intended to save bike users from death and serious injury. Considering the response, if I was in charge of Volvo I would terminate all future research on making cars safer to co exist with cyclists and make the next generation of cars with razor sharp bull bars.

To add to squiza - a lot of deaths are from junctions where the cyclist gets trapped between barriers and vehicles at junctions too.

People like this do not help the Cyclists cause do they..
I hate that cyclist with every fibre of my body. As a cyclist myself i abide by ALL of the road rules... because I'm also a driver too. I stop at red lights, I dismount if it's safer to use a crossing as opposed to cycle a huge junction / interchange. I signal when turning. That weapons grade cunt should be fined, made to pay compensation to the girl and also made to take a hazard perception test at his cost. His actions give nothing but fuel to the cyclist haters out there.

Ouch..
To be fair, an adult cycling on the pavement is a stupid cunt though. Could have been a kid out playing and then it'd have just been an unfortunate accident rather than a complete imbecile with no common sense cycling on the pavement like a girl.
I used to live in a house that's front door opened onto the street - the amount of times I'd step out and almost get mowed down by kids riding up and down!
Could be sprayed on to number plates, no? The kid in me would want to spray a cock & balls on things as well for when headlights hit them at night.
No sympathy for the devil; keep that in mind. Buy the ticket, take the ride...
I'm wondering if it's safe to spray on animals??
my dogs would have a nice spray tan
would also be good for spraying your face before a night on the town raving

How about putting it in dog food? Should help to stop those late night one footed slides when walking around, it would be easier for people to clean their back gardens at night as well. On the other hand you could get those burglar codes sprayed on the pavement outside houses at night so they're not visible in the day.
