When you are anxiously awaiting a movie as big as Avengers: Age of Ultron, you want to hear that it's great! Not just pretty good. But that seems to be the overall consensus coming out of the first press screening held last night at Disney Studios in Burbank, California. The movie sounds like it is a lot more serious and dark than the original, though there are quite a few good jokes and plenty of awesome Marvel cameos (none of which were revealed to avoid possible spoilers).

Disney knows it has a hit on its hands, so they allowed the critics to tweet their responses to the movie afterwards. Most of the reactions are very positive. The movie is without a doubt 'good' by their standards, which means the general populace will probably love it. It was overheard many times that the movie lacks the euphoric nature of the first, but that will be true for pretty much anything. Once you've taken the initial ride, you'll never be able to get back that first thrill. But remember, these words are coming from a group of jaded reviewers who see far too many movies. So the fact that they liked it at all should account for something, right?

If you don't already know, Avengers: Age of Ultron is the epic follow-up to the biggest Super Hero movie of all time. When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth's Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to The Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure. Check out the initial reactions to the movie here, along with five new bonus photos:

Avengers Age of Ultron is good not as euphoric as first movie. Great third act though.

Lots of great cameos in Avengers Age of Ultron. I wanted to cheer when one particularly familiar 40's friend showed up

Best part of Avengers Age of Ultron is the Iron Man - Hulk battle. Truly lives up to the hype.

Avengers: Age of Oh Yeahhhhh It's Good!
— Christopher Rosen (@chrisjrosen) April 10, 2015

No spoilers, but biggest surprises: Thor is hilarious and Scarlet Witch kicks so much ass. Rest of the #Avengers ain't too shabby, either.

.@Avengers#AgeOfUltron might be the most true to the comic movie ever. So many images taken right off the page that made me faint with joy.

Avengers 2 is way more fun and great than the trailers let on.

Whedon stuffs Avengers Age of Ultron with an impossible amount of great geekiness. Sometimes it feels like too much, but he pulls it off!

Avengers: Age of Ultron: An entire "phase" in Soylent brick form. More nerd plot, more spectacle, more sarcasm. Feeling good dizzy.
— Matt Patches (@misterpatches) April 10, 2015

#AvengersAgeOfUltron is darker, weirder and more emotional than the original. It's also the thrill ride to beat this summer.
— Drew Taylor (@DrewTailored) April 10, 2015

Also, the usual Avengers supporting players stand out this time. Black Widow kicks ass and Hawkeye has the best lines.
— Mike Sampson (@mjsamps) April 10, 2015

Okay, I've decided: Avengers: Age Of Ultron > First Avengers -- mostly because Hawkeye is basically the main character.
— Mike Ryan (@mikeryan) April 10, 2015

One more: Spader's Ultron so much more snarky than I thought he would be. So, yeah, he's basically James Spader.
— Mike Ryan (@mikeryan) April 10, 2015

And out of all the AGE OF ULTRON chaos, somehow Hawkeye gets the best role in the movie. AND the best line of the movie, maybe the series.
— Mike Ryan (@mikeryan) April 10, 2015

Just saw AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON. Soooooooo many characters and soooooo much going on, I can't believe it's coherent, let alone so fun.
— Mike Ryan (@mikeryan) April 10, 2015

AGE OF ULTRON is a blast and there's a ton of cool Marvel surprises!
— Silas Lesnick (@silaslesnick) April 10, 2015

#AvengersAgeOfUltron is spectacular and a very different film than the first Avengers. Joss leaves on a high.

Big love for Avengers: Age of Ultron. Tons of fun, awesome action, and fantastic performances from all

By all means @Marvel is still firing on all cylinders - was fun to geek out to Avengers: Age of Ultron - a highly entertaining follow-up!

We did see the after the credits scene at the press screening tonight but I won't spoil anything here.
— Steven Weintraub (@colliderfrosty) April 10, 2015

Important to note AVENGERS AGE OF ULTRON is a completely different movie than the first one. And that's why it works.
— Steven Weintraub (@colliderfrosty) April 10, 2015

AVENGERS AGE OF ULTRON is loaded with insane action, great character moments, and funny dialogue. Joss did the impossible again.
— Steven Weintraub (@colliderfrosty) April 10, 2015

As expected Avengers Age of Ultron sets the seeds of Captain America: Civil War but no cliffhanger.
