Carvajal did not bite me - Mandzukic

Atletico Madrid's Mario Mandzukic has rejected claims he was bitten by Real Madrid's Dani Carvajal in
Tuesday's Champions League quarter-final.

Replays of an incident in the second half of the first leg show the right-back's mouth close to the Croat's arm.

But the Spaniard denied biting the striker,
who tweeted:*
"Yesterday's game was very tough and the two teams gave everything.

"But for me there is no controversy, no bite, no nothing."

After the heated goalless draw, Carvajal, 23,
told Spanish media:*
"I want to make it clear that I have not bitten anyone."

Despite both players' assertions, Atletico captain Gabi has called on European governing body Uefa to respond.

"I can't judge the incident but if Uefa study the images and see something they should take action," he said.

"They are unpleasant incidents and if the footage is so clear then perhaps the disciplinary committee should step in."

Carvajal could face a retrospective punishment regardless, after swinging an arm towards the chest of Mandzukic in the same incident.

Mandzukic, 28, had already suffered a cut to the head earlier in the game when he was caught by Sergio Ramos's elbow.
