As filmmakers such as Bryan Singer, Zack Snyder and Roland Emmerich increasingly turn to social media to get news out about their films, it’s becoming de rigueur to hit the Twitters or post to Instagram. But some, such as Ben Stiller, find ways to make it that much more entertaining. Check out the reveal that Billy Zane will be back as part of the Zoolander 2 cast below.
Zane, who appeared as himself in the original, is returning for more madness in the sequel, though exactly what he’ll be up to is for the film to tell us. He’ll probably still be a cool dude announcing walk-offs.
Zoolander 2 is set roughly 14 years after the original, and finds Derek and best pal Hansel (Owen Wilson) trying to deal with a world that has seemingly moved on past them. Their lives have changed – not always for the better – and they’re not best pleased.
Stiller is once more directing, working from a script by Justin Theroux. The film has been shooting in Rome and features the return of Wilson, Christine Taylor and (reportedly) Will Ferrell’s Mugatu, while also introducing characters played by Kristen Wiig and Penelope Cruz, with Cyrus Arnold as Derek Junior. Zoolander 2 is targeting a February 12, 2016 release.
