I let my 16 month old watch it, I say let... I gave him no choice.

The smile on his face said it all!! He has no idea that this will be his life moving forward. He will be just like Adam Goldberg (if you have seen The Goldbergs you will know what I mean).

He crapped over 40 years of established canon. The films were definitely good space movies, but as a big trek fan I don't class them as 'proper' star trek.

Sorry dude but that comment makes you a None Trekker IMHO. Makes you sound like the same sort of critics that slated the original Trek Movies. Love nearly all your posts on here but I have to disagree strongly with your opinion in this instance.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion. I don't dislike the films, to be honest I thoroughly enjoyed them but there are made to appeal to a younger audience.

Would never slate the original movies, loved every second of them, my only issue with the reboot movies is them moving into an alternate timeline and using terms like red matter etc...
