    Advice Speaking Gibberish

Had two little episodes today where I couldn't really speak, all that was coming out of my mouth was garbled words. Never happened to me before, except maybe as the result of a messy evening.

First one was about 3-5 mins, then a few hours later the next one took me about 20 mins to gradually return to normal.

No drink or drugs today. No real pressure or stress (actually been taking it easy for a bit after what I thought may be stomach / kidney but turned out to be musculoskeletal).

Only unusual thing I can think I was doing unusual when the first one happened was soldering with some roisin flux, but the window was wide open and I've soldered loads of times before.

Is it worth going hospital or docs, or just hope it doesn't happen again.

Repeatedly inhaling rosin flux could cause some chest problems but I doubt it would have the effect you mention unless you had an allergic reaction to it which is unlikely because it hasn't happened before. Have you eaten anything different to your usual diet? Personally I would get it checked out. People tend to ignore the small warning signs so they don't get the treatment or medication they need to prevent a major trauma. It may be nothing to worry about but an appointment or phone call to your doctor for proper advice wont do any harm, but ignoring it possibly could. Surprisingly there are loads of things that can cause garbled speech. Have a look here. (">

Edit: My cousin had a similar incident a few years back. Was a mini stroke in her case. She was put on preventative medication and has been fine ever since. (">

Probably nothing but definitely get to the docs asap as it could be serious! Insist on a proper check up if they try to palm you off.

I dont want to scare you but it does sound like a mini stroke fella, although it could be nothing.

Dont drive a car car until you have seen a doc, A salesman I used to work with had the same thing. 2 weeks later driving up the m5 he had a full stroke and if it wasn't for the passenger grabbing the steering wheel he would have caused a pile up.

Yep sounds like a stroke - Hope it s not nor anything serious but it is a classic sign. The thing with mini strokes is people can have them and not even notice. You should get to docs asap really as the quicker you get treatment (probably just tablets so don't worry) the better chance you have of having no further episodes. Caught early and you will lead a completely normal life.

Happened to my nan, turned out to be a water infection and took about four weeks before she was back to normal.

This happened to a news reporter live on air, think it was put down to a mini stroke. I've got a feeling a doctor rang into the studio to tell her to get to a hospital.

I'm supposed to be in hospital but they've let me out so I can get clothes and laptop.

I was told I would have a whole torso CT and may be discharged after the specialist has seen me tomorrow and they were only keeping me in so I could be seen very first thing tomorrow.

    Unfortunately the paperwork says:
CT Head with contrast: Left parietal lobe ring enhancong lesion, possibly primary brain tumour.

Nothing I can do but shit myself till tomorrow. Anyone medical experts know if I have a few joints tonight if that will mess with their readings?

Dont take anything mate - they're probably more interested physically but if they start doing any tests you don't want to throw it off just in case.

best of luck - hopefully it's something easy to manage.

Go job in getting to the hospital asap. Better caught now than you ignoring it mate. Hope you come back on here with a positive outcome. Take care and try to relax, Personally I would have had those joints as your brain is probably used to them and the most obvious benefit is they would have relaxed you....Stress is never good for the brain.
