Default Can I buy Box Office on someone else's sky box?

I don't have Sky so was not sure about this. Next weekend a group of us are going away to a country cottage with poor internet speeds but the advert says there is a standard Sky package. Can I buy the Box Office boxing using a Sky ID in my name to their viewing card? Can't miss this fight and I thought Box Office was broadcast via satellite so internet speed shouldn't matter.

    Cheers

Back in the day, you could simply take your viewing card, and insert it in the sky box, but I think its not so easy now, worth looking into though.

Got rid of sky a few years ago.

I don't have a viewing card unfortunately as I don't have Sky but I seem tohave a Sky ID which I may have used to buy PPV in the past. I just wasn't sure if the previous card is tied to my account or if more than one Sky ID can order things to a single viewing card. I can't see why not as this is a legitimate purchase. Will try to borrow a projector and set up a makeshift screen with a bedsheet

Sky just said you can't, seems silly as I am not trying to bill the owners account, I want to buy using my own card. No wonder people resort to streams...

Probably not, but even so I find it very rare to find a good stream for boxing as it needs to be responsive and HD, a fight this big I can't see there being good streams!! Unless you know something I don't

Have asked someone to get in touch with the owner, if not might see if any of the others have a sky box we can take.

Has one of the group got Sky ?

You could get them to take the box down and swap the box over and order it.

You can't, I've tried this before.

I wanted to pay or some box office movies in a villa we rented.

The card used is fixed to a subscription and package account which is linked to a bank account. Your Sky ID has nothing to do with having a billing and subscription package against a sky user card.

Presume asking the cottage owner permission and paying upfront is a no go?

The people who booked it are supposed to be asking, alternatively someone in our group must have sky, there's over 20 of us! Failing that then we will have to try find a pub but isn't the fight going to be 3/4am?

    cheers

You won't find many pubs at that time. Surely one of you can bring a viewing card ha

Can you definitely put a viewing card in any sky box? Wasn't sure if any poring was involved. To be safe might just bring the box and card assuming someone has one.

you can't stick a viewing card in any box as it is associated to the box its in - had issue previously with a sky box so tried putting the card into a spare box but didn't work - you could call sky and ask them to associate the card to the box??

I borrowed a mates villa in Spain last year. He had a Sky box but only a basic package. I took my viewing card but I couldn't watch everything on my package but it did increase the channels available.

I will have to try and get another guest to bring their box and card. What a mess, true what they say about restrictions on legit media fuelling piracy.
