Personalized reg help!!!!

I bought a reg number about 2 years ago and have now got a new car.

The problem is this....

new car Cmax is in my dads name until i sell my car.
(that way he's insured it and im insured too.)

now i want to remove the reg number from the focus (old car) and hold it for a few weeks or months depending on when the car sells.

As soon as the focus sells i am putting the cmax in my name and adding the reg number.
Now i know it's £80 to hold it but what about adding it back to the cmax??

Whats the best way?
BTW my dad lives in portugal so no chance he can sign anything.

obviously the new keeper has to tax it but how do I remove it to my new car?

so it looks to me like you just have to notify DVLA https://www.gov.uk/government/news/vehicle-tax-changes you don't move it to the new car but they will issue you with a refund for the period of tax you have left. When the buyer buys your vehicle it now has no road tax and they need to tax appropriately. standard forms need to be followed

i used to go into the dvla but all the offices are gone now!
feels odd not having a physical tax disc to claim back..
