    Default Car Insurance Prices

Has anyone experienced high car insurance prices lately?

My quote last year was £260 which expired today. Doing a search on the usual price comparison sites resulted in my cheapest quote of £360. Strangely enough my existing insurer was £340 so I'm sticking with them. This has never happened before and I find it strange that my existing insurer is the cheapest. Normally they like to reel you in the first year and then the price shoots up for the second year hoping apathy keeps you with them.

Probably don't associate you with being the main driver of the car, considering you're not a hairdresser.

Tbh mine has dropped an insane amount too, my Audi A3 1.8T is now £300 fully comp with business insurance and the drive any car third party extension with protected no claims and a low excess. I have found for the past 3 years that esure are £50-100 cheaper than the next best quote and my renewal with them was £50 better than their website quote.

    Thanks to evilsatan

My insurance on my Saab 9-3 convertible went from £450 fc to over 900 fc this year. Changed companies and changed cars. Now I have a Kia Sportage and my insurance is £480 fc with 1years ncb using Tesco Insurance (And that includes AA cover).

Maybe it's the areas people are based in that are causing the big price differences?

Mine was £250 last year. Got the renewal for £260 and intended to move. Looked around and couldn't find cheaper than £350, so stayed with my current insurer.

09 C Class Merc, for comparison.

I'm in the worsed classed area and it keeps dropping, think it may be factoring in the woman thing maybe. What does often knock a few quid off is put a family member like your mum or dad on if they're under 60. Fuck knows why - assume their risk calculator thinks more people means less drink driving or something.

you can also do what my mate always does and calls them up and says he can get it £x cheaper elsewhere (not too much of a difference).

Ive also had different quotes online with the same details filling the forms in at different times, not a lot but a few quid which is odd.

also look at quidco etc as sometimes they have quite large insurance cashback deals.

Yeah I done all that Blacksheep, I've had my dad on as a named driver for years even though he never drives it. He's in his 70's.

One of the problems it's so high is because I have two claims on the policy as the car was damaged when I wasn't even in the car. But it was the same as last year so it shouldn't have jumped up that much.

I only deal with Topcashback as quidco ripped me off years ago. Topcashback didn't work out cheaper.

Anyway I've had to bite the bullet and stay with the same insurers so that's it sorted for this year at least.
