Default Could phone get network barred

    Hi all
Looking to get an iPhone 6+

Seen one for sale locally. Legit sale not on contract or anything.

    But

It is from a catalogue. She can provide original receipt and picking it up from her house.

But with it being a catalogue if she then stops paying her bill will the phone get barred...?

Anyone know what might happen here....?

    Crash

Not 100% but I'd say there's a massive probability of them barring it, they're not just gonna take a £600 hit and do nowt about it, they'd go bust, everybody would be doing it!

Yes insurance companies and catalogues have ability to bar handset if they see fit via the networks

No expert here but if you had proof of sale to you I would have thought any decent network would then unban handset (surely the network wants the custom - cos they wont be getting the phone back)
Network continues to get money back from original seller via debt collectors e.t.c

Edit: I still wouldn't risk it. I was speaking hypothetically.

There is no network involved it was purchased sim free.

So I don't think the networks can get ban in. Unsure if the catalog company can request a ban.

If it was a TV the company would pursue via debt collection. Not sure if the phone will be treated differently.

Asked Apple Store in the Trafford centre today and they have advised that if I have proof of purchase they would replace repair without any questions.

If it's SIM free then I change my view. I would go for it. You are purchasing an off contract phone. Legally I think with proof any network would be obliged to unban surely.
Might be hassle for you but if the price is right I would go for it myself.

I was about to say surely the person you are buying it from would not be that much of a cunt, then I realized she bought an iPhone ;-)

    Thanks to piggzy

I'm not sure if you can get a phone off the blocked list - sure it's possible but bound to be a pain.

I bought a dell mini which the seller claimed just needed a reinstall of windows, turns out HD was fubard. Tried to return PayPal agreed but was on holiday so missed deadline and PayPal wouldn't shift. The netbook came with a data allowance each month, stopped working quite quickly once I exceeded the data allowance...

Yes you can get phone lifted(providing criteria are met) yes it's a bit of a pain but no where near as bad as it used to be of course until later next year it would only be barred in UK but soon Europe will be sharing barred info making the trade of flogging barred handsets abroad a lot harder
