Help help on updating my sat nav (navigo)

Is there anyway of me updating my very very old navigo (i think its v1) to the latest or at least in the last few years, update of tomtom.

I have tomtom on there, but i did it years ago when the navigo came out, and i think i did update it a few years later.

Or should i just move on and buy a new one,

    regards

    Thanks to thereaslimshady

You could try putting on one of the newer navcores posted in here, if that works then you should be able to add the latest maps. What navcore version is on it now ?

I used to have the Navigo V1, as far as I remember 7.910 was the latest version you could have on it which displayed the TomTom One 3rd Edition screen when you loaded it up. To check which version is installed, from within the TomTom software click the box on the right below the map with the signal bar in it. This will bring up another windows which has your version number in a small box on the right. You can then click the box with the version number in it and it will open another window with more details (map version, free RAM etc.)

Even with 7.910 I still used to have the latest maps, speedcams etc I just couldn't have stuff like lane guidance, IQ routes and the newer stuff.

You should be able to use the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland v950.6544 map - have a look here

Can also check the compatibility chart in that post too.

This has been handy for me too chaps, thanks. I think i got my Navigo eight years back after seeing it recommended on here, and it's been running TomTom ever since 5 out of 7 days a week. Best but of cheap kit I've ever bought. I'll give mine a long deserving fresh map update!

sorry for jumping on the bandwagon - ive a looket sat nav - ive took the original software off it and got it running tomtom navcore but it says no maps found - anyone else had a similar issue or found a way around it

Edited - there is a bif file there - currently its got navcore 7.910 on it ( just got the navcore from a standalone unit )and renamed the exe to drive - maps are uk ones 935_5745

downside is you cant connect the looket to a pc you have to take the sd card and put it into a reader which i have done - it says maps activated via bb tools but then says no maps found

Dont know about your device sorry, but on the tomtom units it makes the bif file when you try to use it for the first time. Then turn unit off and it should be there.
Did you use a 'SE navcore' version or did you patch it yourself ?
What version of navcore have you got working on it & what map version are you trying to use ?

Try patching the ttsystem file, if you got the navcore from a standalone unit it will probably be an original unpatched version. You should be able to use the v950.6544 map after patching & then activating.

    Thanks to Russ

I've a navigo v2, try to update the map's every time a new one is issued, running navcore 7.91
maps V950.6544 do work after patching, but you may need to copy & paste the meta code to the meta file yourself (I did)
I found that BSS said files were activated but the navcore would not run them
so tried Easyactivate & fastactivate can't remember which one worked but after using them the navcore run the V950.6544 maps
