Windows problems connecting to VPN

Hey,

A mate of mine works on the rigs and they block a lot of sites on their network.
So, as a good mate I set him up a VPN tunnel to my interweb. I am using VPN enabler on my Mac Mini to do this as L2TP (the iPhone needs no other software to connect then).

This is all good on the iPhone, however the issue is when trying to use a windows 8 laptop to connect to it... It refuses and keeps saying that the server is unreachable etc...

This could be something on the Mac end? It could be that some setting is wrong on the laptops VPN connection. I would like to resolve this for him rather than set up a second VPN on a Pi just for his laptop. That would not be an issue, but I am sure it must be something simple...

Any pointers? Google not helping me hence why I am now reaching out to you guys.

Can't he just use a third party VPN provider for ease/stability? Or is he accessing stuff on your network?

Get him to try adding the AssumeUDPEncapsulationContextOnSendRule registry key on his windows 8 machine and set it to 2.

He is accessing stuff off my network. The overall aim is to eventually get something set up at his house so he can access his own files when he is away.
We are doing the testing on my network at the moment with him on the rigs, plus I use it from time to time when EE decides to block over 18 sites (betting you dirty gits) on the bill cycle date.. odd but that does happen.
