Default iPad 3 no sound issue

    Hey,

Looking to replace an iPad 1 for my son. The reason is because the iPad one is not comaptible with a lot of kids apps now plus the facetime camera would be a nice feature so he can do his own.

I don't really want to pay much and I am not going to be offloading the iPad 1, that will become a media player somewhere else in the house.
What I have found though (hence the title) is a seller on ebay flogging iPad 3's with 'no sound' : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Apple-iPad.../121656022770?

Works out at about £100 which is a perfect price and I have found a few sites which suggest fixes like this one http://iphonenosound.com/sound-and-s...ad-how-to-fix/

Question is has anyone on here had the no sound issue and fixed it? If it is the speaker that needs replacing is it an easy job?

    Thanks

Default iPad 3 no sound issue

All of above options in link could be fault also could be faulty speaker, flex or audio chip on logic board all which require screen off, lcd out then check those parts also.

Set aside a good 2 hrs to do it properly so you don't damage the screen and also fit it back correctly making sure glass is bonded to frame and chassis

Proper fuck on imo bloody hate iPads [emoji16]

    Thanks to Mobileman

I saw some with broken screens that are unresponsive. Are these easily fixed with the £12 kits you can buy or is it a bigger/more expensive job?

I would just get a working one, maybe in a poor condition. Fixing iDevices is a real PITA.

I used to buy broken iPods and fix them, but some were just total right offs and made it pointless. eBay sellers knew this as well.

It's going to go in a fisherprice case, so if the screen is cracked but works then it would do. Problem is even them ones are expensive as it is inevitable that they will need a new screen at some point.

I could use this as an opportunity to give him my iPad 3 which is in the kitchen and upgrade

I would say most partially faulty devices on eBay are honey traps as the seller knows what is wrong and it isn't economically viable to repair or it has passed through many hands already. An ignorant description where the symptoms sound like a simple fix will sucker people in, occasionally there will be a genuinely simple fix (my first PS3 years ago for example just needed the power button holding down to reset the graphics!) but usually it will be a waste of money and end up as spares.

As said I'd swerve the faulty ones off eBay with easy fixes mentioned in the description.
I mean, the sellers know about these easy fixes but ....

I'd check your Tesco clubcard balance, if you have one, and see how much a Hudl2 will cost you.
I got one for £77 to replace my aging iPad the other week after adding a few codes and cashing in on their double points offer, which I thought was quite reasonable.

    Thanks to Hippie on hill

Needs to be a 2 or 3 to fit his fisherprice case.
