Default Faulty LCD on Electicity meter

    Now then fellas,

The LCD screen on my electricity meter is faulty, could've been bust for 12 months or more.
my supplier has said the meter will be replaced but my bill will be resolved by estimation. And their estimation is incredibly high (surprise, surprise)
Surely there must be a way to get a reading from the meter? If so how?

    Cheers in advance
    SM

They have got to be talking BS.

It's going to be stored on a chip. Tell them you want the matter resolved either by them or the regulator. They will soon sort it out.

Yeah, you need to escalate. Utility companies do not want the regulator involved.
Note: Do not let them exchange that meter until you've got the ball rolling and someone higher up than the call centre's own customer care involved. Faulty meters have a distinct habit of disappearing once removed.
Let them know they're not taking it and you're going through OFGEM to resolve.
When it does get removed, it needs to be bagged and tagged (sealed). Tell them you know all this and someone will start taking you seriously. The call centre might not know what you're on about but the managers will.

    Thanks to Zoots
