Connecting a vu plus solo to a sly hd

As the title says I'm attempting to connect the 2 receivers .setup as follows
Vu receiver output via coax to aeriel in on sky HD box. The n sky HD box rf1 output to 1 in 8 out splitter. After a rescan of the TV's I can pick up the sky HD box and get a vague reception from the vu receiver. When I put the sky box on standby the vu picture is then visible and clear. Anyone elaborate on what my next move is or has anyone got a similar setup.

just a guess but maybe the rf outlet on the vu is on the same modulation or close to the one you have set for the skybox rf out2
try changing the rf out 2 on the sky box to another on the off chance it helps
