So I buy a new Samsung 850evo SSD for the laptop. Install the migration software and install the drive. Migration complete, great I thought. its a twin bay laptop so I take out the old hdd and startup the laptop, all I get is a black screen, and the ability to move a white cursor around. Nothing else.
Tried another migration tool, migrated the files, and again loaded up the laptop. This time to be greeted by the winload.efi is missing. So I boot up the old hdd and have them side by side, the file is there, no doubt about it on both drives. After a quick Google search it seems to be a common problem migrating win 8.1 onto an ssd.
2 days of arsing around with the fucking drive and I'm ready to send it back. Anyone able to help out before the north sea fishes find a new friend in the form of an SSD at the bottom of the ocean??
