    Hardware Small upgrade

    Upgrading from:

    Cheap case.
AMD Athlon II X4 640 (Propus 45nm Technology)
    8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 669MHz (9-9-9-24)
    ASUSTeK Computer INC. M4N68T-M-LE-V2 (AM3)
    S243HL (1920x1080@60Hz) 2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 (MSI)

Should do a decent job for the next few years. It's all there's gonna be!

    Bilbo.

You should really get a good SSD and put the OS on that and put all your crap on the 2TB drive the performance difference is incredible

I know that - but I have to draw the line somewhere re: spend...

You've not listed the motherboard that you intend to use.

I'd also go with Tim.Lad's suggestion. It does make a big difference + plus there is less hassle if you ever have to do a re-installation of Windows...

You can make big savings on the PSU & CPU. If you look on anandtech.com/bench you'll find there is very little difference between your old system's power consumption (about 300w total system....750w PSU overkill?) & the 'new' one. You can also buy a high end motherboard/CPU & SSD for virtually the same price as the i7 4790.

I'd also be tempted to add to the memory that you've already got.

Compromise on the 2tb drive and get a 1tb hybrid or save some money on the PSU / CPU get a smaller HDD and get a full SSD is drive
