Plusnet Technicolor 582n router connections?

A friend who's mother gave out his password had 42 connections listed in his router! I've explained to him how to change password which he has done correctly as it disconnected him and his parents from the net but its still showing all those same connections even after resetting his router? Theres no option to refresh so why are they still showing and can I get rid of them?

Has he done a factory reset & has he tried connecting with the old password? - if he can't connect then the others won't be able to either.

He hasn't done a factory reset as he was unsure about what it would reset it back to? Would it just be the old password thats shown on the router? I'll get him to try connecting with the old password but I'm sure it wont work as it wouldn't allow his phone to connect until he entered the new password.

He was using 350gb a month! Maybe not that much nowadays but quite alot for what he used it for.
