Default Boot config is meseed up!

A friend brought his laptop for me to try to fix for him, hes locked of his Lenovo B50 out with the follwing boot message:-

The boot configuration file is missing some required information
    File: \BCD
    Error Code: 0xc000000d

I don't have a recovery disc so is there any way of getting it fixed?

    Thanks in advance

    Messed!

    What OS is it?

you could download a repair disk for said OS

    Boot to it then run

    Bootrec from command prompt

Pull the drive. Connect to another PC. Pull off the important files onto another drive. Put drive back and do a clean Win X install.

Sounds borked. Did u google the error code?

I have no idea how I would do a clean install of X as I cant do anything with it, as soon as I press the power button I get the Lenovo image then a second or so later the BSD with that message, it gives me one option to press esc to enter BIOS.

The BIOS states its Windows 8 64 version so I'm downloading the recovery image for 8.1 (4gb) to see if that works?

You might still have the recovery partition on the laptop.

Press any of the following keys on boot up.

    ESC
    F4
    F9
    F10
    F11
    F12

Hopefully hes kept it intact when he installed windows 10 over the top.

Hmmm seems I had to find a stupid little pinhole on the right side to enter the Novo recovery menu! Its currently being set back to factory default so hopefully that sorts it! I will message back with result.

    Thanks for the replies.

All done, its set back to Windows 8 and its staying that way! He can do one if he thinks I'm installing 10 for all this to happen again!

    Thanks again for the help
