    Default Graphite powder Lubricant

Im about to embark on a vintage turntable restoration, ive had a quick look at the internal automatic mechanisms and whomever serviced it previously would just blob grease on the moving parts and put it back together.
I'd like to degrease it all and i've used Graphite powder on locks with amazing results. Would it also be suitable for the mechanisms of a turntabe or regrease with silicon grease etc ?

    Cheers.

I would stick with the manufactures original specification lubricant. Graphite powder works well in locks because they are susceptible to dirt entering the mechanism through the use of the key. A turntable shouldn't be affected by dirt and grit etc because the motor bearings will be sealed and the other mechanisms will be encased in the plinth.

What turntable are you restoring? I've got a Garrard 301 sitting in a box that I have been meaning to look at for the last 15 years...
