    Default Return sat feed

    Hi all,

Just moved into new apartment paid for by my employer. The sat feed appears to be single feed with a return feed, so single feed.

I don't see any other sat feeds in the house other than an rf coaxial in the bedroom.

Also on the same faceplate I have radio and TV, presumably they're fed from the master aerial which also feeds the coax in the bedroom? Or would the return sat feed convert into the coax faceplate?

What does the return sat feed do? And where is it likely to go if I don't have any other sat outlets in the flat?

Return feed? Might be dual feed so you can watch and record different channels

Unless its power for a motorised setup it's likely the second feed for sky. I have a similar faceplate with no markings but the same sockets.

Return feed is normally a return to an amp which would then distribute the rf 2 feed from the sky box round the property.

Could be two things depending on how it's wired, It will either send the return to the bedroom where the other point is, or it's been wired as a secone feed to run the two inputs on a sky box.

I would imagine it's the second option, although it says return feed you can wire them as two direct sky feeds to run sky box. One feed to watch and one to record.

Likely a generic faceplate now I think about it. Plug something in and see what happens.

The ones I have come across have the return connected to the RF2 socket on the sky box to distribute the programming to another room, usually the bedroom. If there is a socket in the bedroom and you only have one aerial and no aerial amplifier/distributor, then this is most likely to be the case. If there is no socket in the bedroom then this may well be a feed from a second LNB, or may not be connected to anything. do you have a twin LNB connected on the dish or at least a second cable coiled up next to the dish?. (">

Edit: If you have a socket in the bedroom check the continuity between the ground and the centre connector with and without shorting the ground and centre connector on the socket in the living room. (">

Thanks for all the input, tried it out last night and there is no signal coming in from the one marked RETURN. So from the above, I take it this means one of the following:

    * It's a dud, it's a generic faceplace and there is nothing actually wired to the return connection.
    * It it connected, but with no other sat feeds in the apartment, it' may just be tucked behind the wall/into the ceiling/loft etc.
    * It's connected to the RF2 in the bedroom (this is the only other connection for audio/video in the apartment.

If I wanted to use this return feed, I'd need a RF2 from the Skybox into the Return feed F Connector. And then a Belling-lee connector from the wall into the TV. This would only give me audio and video, and I would still require the use of a IR transmitter for the signal (or use the Sky+ App, connected over WIFI)

for the IR tranmitter you would connect a Magic Eye in the second bedroom location which gives you control over the Sky box in the main living room

Yeah, although I'm thinking of just to keep on using my AV Senders, 5.5ghz.

The sender and receiver will literally be less than 1m apart on either side of the wall, which is a plasterboard partition, so should get OK signal with those. Rather than messing around going from F Connector to RF2 etc

Ha! I would do, but work are putting me up for 18 months. Top floor city apartment, great city views etc. Can't complain!

Although, I don't understand why, when they spend so much on intercoms, underfloor heating etc, they don't fucking run dual SAT feeds!
