Lovely day!
No need to get angry, even when drinking whiskey !
Lovely day!
I have no problem with certain whiskeys. But need to be pretty merry first before moving on to them though.
I've just started drinking Whiskey, for years, well all my life I hated the stuff, probably because when I was younger I would try to drink Grants or some other awful brand and it put me right off.
This year, I've been sipping Whiskey Sours, and Whiskey and Ginger ale, and it has taken the edge off the Whiskey, now I'm putting less and less Ginger ale in, and in some cases when it's a nice one, just a couple of cubes.
It does get me smashed though and leave me with horrendous headaches, but it's a good numb face feeling!
I've got a good selection of whiskeys due to weddings and gifts, it has been a while but used to make me awful sick - I'll maybe try again.
It's great for toothache.

Dalwhinnie Distillers Ed.
Dalwhinnie 15
Talisker Storm
Talisker 57 deg. North
Talisker Port Righue
Talisker Distillers Ed.
Amrut Fusion (single malt from Paul John Distillery - India fking amazing)
Edradour 10
Lagavulin 16
Balvennie 12 doublewood
Cragganmore 12
Singleton of Dufftown
Penderyn
I don't mix them with anything. They don't need it. At most, I'll put 1 or 2 drops of water in some of the heavier ones (those of 50% abv or higher)

Any chance of some brief reviews of the ones you've listed? I'm not asking for a full on snobbish review, just for example, one I did with my brother on Xmas - Laphroaig 10 Years old - very full body, well peated, leaves a strong but pleasant aftertaste that breaks down into many different flavours.
Edradour was a whisky I fell in love with the first time I tried it at the distillery - it's a regular part of my booze shelf (along with the Old Pulteney brews - probably drink more of them than anything else although I am partial to a heavily peated/seaweedy drop or 2 from Laphroaig / Talisker etc.

Sorry if I'm being a nuisance, but I tend to prefer opinions of people I know (online or offline) compared to total unknowns, or reading a page of snobbish waffle on each particular whisky.
I was hoping if maybe you could give us a one line description of each drink of what to me looks like a nice little selection you have there.
Edit: Oops, someone got pissed and confused who was replying to what

Honestly I've seen so many reviews of whisky (and wine/port/gin etc.) I generally ignore them all and try for myself and make my own decisions.
Not trying to wind you up but there are thousands of whiskies out there and if 2 people taste the same one at the same time they are almost guaranteed to disagree on the flavours as everyone has a different taste.
Personally my taste changes like the weather - sometimes I like a quick hit and short finish and other times I like a heavily peated seaweed flavour with a long finish (so 20 mins after I've drunk it I roll my tongue in my mouth and taste it all again slightly different)
Best advice I can give is to to try any whisky you can neat, add a tiny splash of water and try again - keep repeating adding tiny splashes of water until you think it's perfect - THEN STOP ADDING WATER AND ENJOY - if you add too much water then you'll hate it.

To be honest, my best information on them is that they just taste fkin great .
I can't be arsed with all that snobbish waffle you get on the sites...ya know that, "Oodles of smokey cheesecake shat out the arse of a sexed up gorilla on a wet Tuesday morning in mid 1987 with hints of vanilla, man gel and a touch of chicken giblet at the nose" .
As far as these go.
Dalwhinnie 15. Nice and light, refreshing
Dalwhinnie Distillers Ed. Same as above with the added hints of Sherry (finished in a Sherry cask)
Talisker Storm Salty, peaty, a good mature taste.
Talisker 57 deg. North Same as above but like a glass of rocket fuel. This one is a ltd ed. bottled at 57% abv based on the distillery being at 57deg. N. This one definitely needs a couple of drops of water. This one sells at just under £70/bottle
Talisker Port Righue This one is gorgeous. Limited ed. Very sweet yet quite woody with a slight salty undertone. One cunt on master of malt can taste Crayola crayons and a Sticking plaster. I want to punch that twat in the face
Talisker Distillers Ed. As with the other Taliskers, there's always that salty, peaty taste to it but finished in the Amoroso cask. Again, a slightly sweeter taste
Amrut Fusion (single malt from Paul John Distillery - India fking amazing) This one is creamy. Can definitely taste Vanilla , citrus and spices in it - Definitely a hint of India. Awesome in a warm glass. It's interesting to know that Malts in India age 3 times faster. So, a malt that's been in the cask for 6 years will age at that of an 18year old. This is due to the climate.
Edradour 10 Smallest distillery in Scotland I believe. Sweet. Can't really think of anything else but it tastes good.
Lagavulin 16 Very Smoky, peaty, woody (oak)... very mature tasting. Someone likened it to Lapsang Souchong. I'd agree
Balvennie 12 doublewood A bit of a bourbon taste to it, oaky and vanilla again.
Cragganmore 12 Light and creamy yet a touch smoky
Singleton of Dufftown Quite spicy and nutty.
Penderyn Smooth and quite sweet. Nice with or without a splash of water
I'd certainly agree with Northern Bloke about trying one or two drops (pipette) of water in a whiskey. It opens up a lot of flavours.
There's another Whiskey to mention. Smokehead. This one is fucking crazy. My own write up on it would be something like. "Initial flavours of malt, peat and smoke. Quickly developing into a sensation of drinking ground up volcanic rock and ash with a finish akin to having licked an ashtray that lingers for a long time. Very strange but for me this is an awesome tasting Whisky. Would probably make those puffed up pretentious twats recoil in absolute horror lol.

Incidentally, if you get a chance. Watch the Ken Loach movie - The Angels Share. Awesome film
Drunk a few bottles of this as I look after the old boy pictured on the bottles computer issues for him. Lives round the corner.
He founded a shop in London called Milroys of Soho and was very successful in the Whisky trade. All kinds of awards. The bottles I had off him were 60% so needed a drop of water. Fantastic stuff
Not sure if it's that shop I've been in in Soho but I do remember browsing one there that had some whiskey locked away in cabinets with prices upwards of £20K on them !!! :/
Islay Malts are awesome. Caol Ila is the sister distillery to Lagavulin.
