In the past I have bought a fake 64GB USB drive from ebay where it had been flashed with the wrong fw to show as 64GB. I was told if you identify the chip of the USB you can get the correct fw and flash it to the device. That may work here if you can get the chipset and find the appropriate fw to flash back.

Right, so having had one of these of Det, I can report that I have probably fucking borked it...

Well maybe not. I've managed to get rid of the CD partition with this: http://www.usbdev.ru/?wpfb_dl=3446

Which left me with a 5gb usb.

I've grabbed a working copy of AlcorMP from here: http://www.usbdev.ru/files/alcor/

Can't quite work out exactly "what" version I need with this stick or exactly what settings to use, but I've got the drive formated to 8gb, but it won't copy 8gb of data successfully. I get bad block errors with the tool, some settings show me a bad block at the end and the drive is not visable in explorer. Some show it in the middle, but show me the 8gb but wont copy data...

What I am keen to play with is making my own CD partion, say with either my own mixes or from a techy pov, a windows install disk.

    Yeah the version here: http://www.usbdev.ru/?wpfb_dl=5288

With no change to settings, run it and just click Start. Wait 30 mins, and done.
