WhatsApp subscription courtesy Lifetime upgrade!

What is going on over there?
Anyone else receive a 'coutesy' notification explaining you have Lifetime, only for it to be taken away the same day, then the following day (19th Jan) gaining it again?

Me and the missus both got it.

1st year was gratis and then they were going to charge you that was their business model pre FB buying them out.

Odd i thought, too.
I got a notice saying it was upgraded to lifetime, then got one that said ROLLBACK expires 2018, then another saying lifetime..
Had it since it's launch pretty much, and paid for a lifetime licence so don't know what's going on. Tbh, I'd pay monthly for it if they asked me to. If I used MMS the same way it'd cost me hundreds a month.

If only I could beleve that there is no monetary or data value to my WA interactions and the service is run by FB out of the goodness of their heart but I don't yet I use it now for 90% of my comms..

If no ad banners appear within WhatsApp, the next thing on the agenda could be the sale of over 990 million mobile numbers to 3rd parties that could target us via WhatsApp msg or even SMS.
