Gtx 980ti or gtx 1080

With the announcement of the gtx 1080 card, and the fact I'm building my first gaming rig, I'm very tempted to buy the 1080... But don't know enough about them.

The founders edition 1080 card is cheaper than the Asus matrix platinum 980ti card I was going to buy.... But does cheaper mean less spec?

Can anyone shed some light on what card to buy?

No the newer card will wipe the floor with the current 980t but prices will remain high until the newer 1080 comes out, buy the 1080.

Hi did you go for the founders edition? I have just ordered the Asus 1080 strix as it's better cooling and can be overclocked, very pricey though!

My asus strix 1080 gtx overclocked edition arrived yesterday mate

Overclocked edition is 40 extra than the standard strix

"Wipe the floor" is a massive exaggeration dude unless you are buying for VR performance.

Will be keeping my sli 980ti's until the 1080ti / titan's are out next year.
