    Default Rashford, stay or go?

Marcus Rashford marched off to a standing ovation from England's fans inside The Stadium Of Light at Sunderland after playing an inspirational role in their win against Australia.
Manchester United's 18-year-old forward made history as the youngest goalscorer on his England debut, striking after only 138 seconds in the 2-1 victory and giving the sort of performance that almost demands inclusion in manager Roy Hodgson's 23-man squad for Euro 2016 when it is confirmed on Tuesday.

So will the young man who has been a shining light in a soulless season at Old Trafford get the opportunity to shine on the international stage at the showpiece in France?

He has been a revelation since bursting into the Man utd team, and i see similar parallels to Salvatore Schillaci who was also draughted into the Italian national team at the last minute for the 1990 world cup, he went on to claim the golden boot.

Now although he was a little older he still came in as a wild card, maybe Rashford could do the same for England?

Could he be the key to England finally doing well at a football competition?

Honestly I would have him over Sturridge if comparing seasons . And before any one starts I'm Irish and couldn't care who they take.

You mean when a young Rooney was unstoppable in euro 2004 and dragged England through the competition until he got injured ? I think they would have won it that year if he hadn't. ( and I'm Scottish )

There's always a young revelation at these tournaments, no reason it cant be Rashford.

If Rooney had any brains he would retire.

rooney is not overrated and his goal showed he still has that at international level regardless of the opposition, i personally dont think rashford should go because there will be too much pressure to play him if one striker doesnt score, but i think rashford will get selected, sturridge would be the one to take because he a very good finisher

Problem with Sturridge is, he's always injured.

i agree with that, but if he were to go he would be fourth choice and used to throw on if we are chasing a game

Let's be honest, it makes little difference whether he goes or not. England are a quarter final team at best. All of our centre halves have a mistake in them, the midfield is unimaginative and slow and although I think Kane and Vardy are half decent, they'll be isolated against the better teams because we don't retain possession very well. Rooney has never fulfilled the potential he showed in Euro 2004 and although he's still a good player, I think he slows the play down too much now. And please don't point to the game against Germany the other month. England are well capable of a one off performance but we've never been able to string a series of performances together. Even in Italia'90 and Euro '96, we couldn't string two good games together.

The exact reason he shouldn't go. I'd rather they build a young 11 man team instead of the same old shit of relying on a "prodigy" that will get us through to the quarters.
