Help Downgrade 1st Gen Google Nexus Tablet

I have a first generation Google Nexus 7 tablet. I only use the table now and again for work to look at spread sheets and word documents.

About 6 months ago I upgraded the android system (can’t remember the name) and now it is just a paperweight. It’s so slow it’s virtually unusable. Clearly he 1GB RAM isn’t enough. I did consider buying the 2nd generation one but I don’t use it that often to justify this.

Is it possible to revert back to the old android system? If so are there any good on-line tutorials?

Thanks in advance for any help.

The good thing about a mainstream android device (over say apple) is that any version can be upgraded or downgraded at will.

Is your tablet mobile(nakasig) or wifi(nakasi) only as that makes a difference which image(s) you download?

I downgraded mine to SlimKat when the stock ROM was running like a dog (shame the battery is still buggered)

I'm having problems at step 6:

Now the device should reboot and a small Android logo should appear on screen along with "No command" message below it.

All I get is the robot icon with a red triangle. When I restart the Nexus it seems to have performed a hard reset but it's still on 5.1.1.

Fuck it I think I'll chuck it in the bin

    From the command line type

    adb reboot recovery

that should do the same as the keypress sequence step 6 tells you to do.
