I've been to the running of the bulls in Chiva (near Valencia) before. Having a ton of bull running at you and you running in the opposite direction is a bit of an adrenalin rush. They released about 10 bulls at one end of the town and everyone ran like fuck! No bulls were killed, they were more like the stars of the town and from what I could gather had been cared for very well (I spoke to a lot of locals). I didn't see any aggression towards the bulls, it was more like a dash through the town with a party atmosphere. I don't know if that's how it is everywhere in Spain but I would certainly go back and would have no moral issues on doing it again.

Bull fights on the other hand are sick, barbaric acts of savagery. The bull has shaved horns which disorientates the animal. They are often drugged before a "fight" and all the matador is really there to do is injure the animal and wear it out a bit before finishing it off. If he misses the kill with his sword someone else comes in to stab the bull in the back to cut it's spinal cord.

I get that it's part of Spanish culture but then so is the running of the bulls and we didn't have to kill a bull that day and all had run. Personally I think all bull fights should be banned or the numbers reveresed. i.e. 10 bulls vs one matador. RIP bully and mum.

I'm no treehugger and love a burger but bullfighting is just for barbaric retards to serve some kind of bloodlust, cries of tradition are a pathetic excuse. Beyond a juicy steak I just don't get it and therefore hold it in complete contempt.

The only way I can see an end to Bull fighting is if travel companies and the public boycott Spain as a holiday destination. That would bring Spain to it's knees because the country is so dependant on tourism. Having worked on a farm as a teenager I am of the opinion that Bulls are not naturally aggressive, but in the Bullring are goaded and put into a position where they know they have to fight to defend their lives. It isn't even a fair fight because all the odds are stacked against them. I have always believed that if you treat an animal with love and respect you will get the same in return. Running with the bulls is ok in my books as long as the bulls get no before treatment to make them docile or whatever.

Killing of the bulls later when the people get to the ring is a different matter. that is not what I feel is fair for the bulls.

Don't give a fuck about the Matadors, they deserve everything they get. Building a career on the taunting/mocking/murder of these beasts is hardly a job to be proud of.
