If you got that sort of wanga to spend I would buy a tab. All my lappys and netbooks are gathering dust and I use my android-windows one which cost me £60 on ebay. this runs faster than all my laptops

    This looks a good one

Tbh, I like my laptops and already have ipads. I prefer to use a laptop really.
Is it worth getting i3 or should I get i5? Are Hp worth getting these days?
    Cheers

The age old question, what do you intend to use it for?

day to day browsing, but I also do some work on it with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and embroidery digitizing software. I backup pictures, files documents etc. so it's not heavily used.

I would go for an i5 for Adobe work and 6GB+ RAM (although it is so cheap you can buy a 4GB and upgrade). Lenovo are my brand of choice or HP business models seem to be ok but I don't tend to buy them. I would advise against restricting yourself to Argos as you may find much better elsewhere, is it possible to get a 0% purchases credit card for this purpose? I believe Tesco have one for 13 months, £400-500 should get you a pretty decent laptop but had a very quick browse on Argos and nothing jumps out. You could even get something like a Lenovo Thinkpad from eBay which should have 2.5+ years warranty and they are robust. I am on a T460s now, had a T430 before and a T410 before that and been very happy.

    Thanks to evilsatan

Apart from just being i3 is there anything wrong with the Lenovo in first post? The work I do with Adobe isn't that intensive and mainly Illustrator...current older laptop manages just fine with it, its not the main purpose as such..

It all depends what you want it to do. If it's just normal Office applications, web browser then no problem at all. I would highly recommend upgrading the RAM to whatever the max that machine will take - that said it comes with 8gb apparently which should be more than ok. It really helps - especially with Adobe products that rely on fast movement of data.

The real restriction with this machine will be the Intel HD gfx card. Some are not so quick. I wouldn't be expecting much (if any) real gaming on it. Video will play okay though.

Windows 10 is a lot less bloated than previous versions so I think it would be fine for most things.

I'm sure it's a typo but the spec says sata2, you would want sata3 so you could upgrade to an SSD at some point (if not immediately). The processor is a 5th gen which may explain the reduction but this isn't a problem. Reviews on Amazon look decent on the whole, might be worth looking at some reviews online to see what the negatives say. This is a consumer laptop rather than business so will be robust than the think pads but I've had good experiences with the home lenovos too.
