Bought a pc from auction with win8.1, never needed a password to logon, upgraded to win10 and now being asked for a password.
Is there a way to find the password or remove it?
Thanks

Might sound silly but have you tried blank password.
Yes have done, it gives a hint which means absolutely nothing
only way is a bootable usb or dvd with the tools on to get ur password.
Lot of hassle but have done it in the past.
Other method it boot into Ubuntu or your preferred linux via usb and copy files you dont want to lose onto a partition/usb drive etc
Then simply reinstall a fresh windows and wipe the lot.
I haven't tested on win10, but works well on previous ms builds. Just download the iso, burn it to disc and boot from it.

I haven't used Ophcrack in years, actually deleted my files for it last week. Is it still pretty slow? The benefit is it will actually find the password rather than remove/blank it so good if you don't want to be found out.
In your case I would see if Pogostick works on Win 10 (I haven't tried) but if you have secure boot enabled you may be out of luck. Alternatively you may be able to get MSDaRT 10, not sure if it works with secure boot but the locksmith tool should be able to sort passwords.
I haven't verified the link or download so be careful:
