    Help random FPS

    OK my rig
    16gb ddr3 ram 1600
    AMD 8320 8 core cpu
    512 SSD drive + 2tb storage
Asrock extreme 4 970 chipset motherboard
had GTX 960 2gb, upgrade to 970 4gb at weekend to fix problem.
    Corsair New PSU 600 watt
had major problems with Forza Horizon 3 with random frame drops from 80 fps down to as low as 8 fps(1 to 2 seconds)
    Battle field 4 the same.
i noticed cpu temp was at 50 to 60 idle(thought cpu throttle)
renewed paste & added an extra fan to freezer pro cooler, idle dropped to 35 to 45
    forza runs 90% better
BF4 still drops frames randomly down to as low as 10 fps for 1 to 2 seconds.
    temps in game max 68

    any help would be great

What level of graphical detail are the games set too. Ultra? Anti-aliasing x 4?... I'd start at the bottom & work my way through each setting.

Also, do yo have any other programs running in the background, i.e., Chrome...

AMD maximum recommended temp for that CPU is 62 degrees.... 6 degrees might not sound like a lot but it is actually massive.

Edit: on second read it says 62 is absolute max and they recommend 55 to maintain life of cpu.

The temps I read where for under load not idle .. Imho your 68 degrees seems a bit high.

Have you checked that the two games are not the issue? - an uneven cpu workload across all 8 cores. Have you tried msi afterburner to monitor the workload across all your cpu cores? For bf4, use the tilde key & type in: perfoverlay.drawfps 1
    perfoverlay.drawgraph 1

yes the games do have issues, lots poeple having this problem, up till about 4 weeks ago i never really had an issue
here is a test of the 8 cores when in Battlefield 4
it was ran for 10 minutes
i have sped the clip up so you dont have to sit and wait. i dont see any problems in it.

Does the BF4 problem occur in the campaign mode as well as multiplayer? If you're playing online, you might want to run the network graph for the game in conjunction with perfoverlay.drawgraph 1 & afterburner - that way you can assess whether latency is having an impact on the game.

Have you also tried rolling back your drivers or used the fix for the latest nvidia drivers (memory clock stuck @ 810mhz)?
