A mate of mine has been planning on upgrading his system by himself - with a little input from me.
He's an old boy learning the ropes as a hobby and wanted to come out the otherside with an acheivement.

Originally Vista, upgraded to Windows 7.
Comes with 2x 1GB RAM DDR2 PC2-5300 555... THIS.
OK Cool. Upgrade required.
So look up details of the Systems Motherboard -

Nice. Discover board supports 4x 2GB DDR2 PC2-5300 (667 MHz). Sweet. 8GB/Quad Core system.
Revisit eBay and Buy -
4GB(2x2GB) DDR2-667 PC2-5300 Non-ECC Unbuffered Desktop PC Memory Twice
Memory arrives, perfectly packaged, safe and sound. Installed in PC... Nothing. No beeps, no moaning, no BIOS screen. Blackness.
So, think to self, Upgrade the BIOS, just in case. Visit HP's site, no BIOS files, not even the original for this systems motherboard.
It's on v5.04 and I have googled and investigated that v5.09 DOES exist, but is like gold dust since HP do not host it. Found it on MediaFire... but install BIOS from mediafire? I think not.
Anyone able to help with this, been an ongoing issue for a couple of weeks now and cannot for the life of me work out why it's not worked.
