installing a new hard drive without the old one in xbox one

Here is what i did to install a new (bigger) drive into my sons xbox one s:
my son had an xbox one s with 500gb hard drive, i bought a cheap 1tb xbox one elite and removed the hard drive from that and formatted it.
he wanted his xbox one s upgrading to 1tb so i then put this freshly formatted 1tb drive inside the xbox one s and..
i then downloaded the correct (ill upload the files shortly) system update from microshot, unzipped it to the root of a usb stick
place the usb stick into the xbox before turning it on
turned on the xbox whilst holding EJECT and the BIND buttons (keep them held in whilst the machine boots)
then follow instructions on screen for offline install using usb stick.

I then took the 500gb hard drive and again formatted it and put this into the xbox one elite, so instead of being a 1tb console its now 500gb!
downloaded the correct system update files for this and then did the exact same to the xbox one elite as i did to his console above and i now have 2 fully working consoles.
