After searching this site (search seems a bit screwed up, btw), nothing came up, so...

I used to have an ISO of Nero 5.5.0.4 with a serial. Obviously, the serial has been blackflagged since then so when I try to update to version 5.5.9.9, it tells me the serial was prolly stolen and Nero becomes Nero express (demo).

Fine, so I uninistall Nero with add/remove, then I clear all the registry entries containing "ahead" and "nero", I delete the directory where nero used to be, reboot, then install version 5.5.9.9 with a keygen. I open Nero and voila, everything works (the full version).

But upon rebooting, I open Nero and bang, back to demo. While deleting reg entries the first time, I saw "nerocheck.exe" in the run section of windows. Since I have Zonealarm, I don't think Nero can phone home so it's obviously a hidden reg key somewhere that tells him that comp used to have a hacked version of Nero.

That must be it since right after the installation everything works fine and after a reboot, it's demo time.

My question is does anybody know where that key is, or what is happening ? I can't believe i'm the only one in this situation. I could disable the nerocheck.exe in the registry, but maybe Nero will put that key back when opening the program and besides, I want to know what that nerocheck thingy checks (maybe a file somewhere ?)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
