2 Bids have been rejected, 3.5m and 5.5 as the Leeds board rate him nearer the 10m bracket. It WILL happen, just a matter of time before he's back with Rio again

ooops!
no doubt about it, just a matter of scum paying what he's worth and the deal wil go through, although i guess liverpool could use him too so if fergie doesnt stop penny pinching then i guess they could easily dive in and grab him.
after all both teams are in the champions league qualifiers for next season and neither have squads strong enough to win it (at present)

no english team has what it take atm. Including Arsenal.
ooops!
Good luck to Alan wherever he goes. Alot of Leeds fan's are knocking him for saying he would consider the move. But, put yourself in his shoes (if he goes). His boyhood club are practically bust and he gave his all for them. He is offered the chance to go to probably the biggest club in the world and get £££ (if he goes). He has a future to think about. If the Leeds board\chairman hadnt gotten the club into this mess he wouldnt even be considering this move.
At least the club have the good sense to hold out for money!!
I was chatting to my cousin last night who is a Leeds season ticket holder. He is already going off on one calling him judas, scum etc. This is not the Rio scenario, we are now in Division 1 with no money and Smithy is on £40k a week. The money we get from him will help start the rebuilding process.
However, seeing him in a Scum shirt (if he goes) will make me cringe.
i think this could be a repeat of last season where the united board did not want to pay the right amount for a good player and in theend missed out and he ended up being THE player of the season for barcelona, if not hte league itself, i think if united board keep being this petty united will miss out on so many targets this year to rivals and it will cost them dear yet again
i cant believe united bid £5.5m for a player who gets more reds than goals, with Morientes available for £17m we are once again setting our sites far too low
buy smith and we will won nothing again next season, no wonder these leeds fans dont mind him coming to OT, he will be the enemy within imo.
i didnt say anything about arse or chelski as niether of them are likely to bid for smith, but sadly i agree i dont think we have any team capable of winning it atm.Originally Posted by matt26
well personally.............i dont think saha is man united quality.........united could easily have gone out and got someone better, but saha hasnt done badly and i will probably now be proved wrong and smith he is a good player and there arent many players who will give more for a team whenit comes to comitment he could well be a very good catalyst on the pitch as heis very much a vocal player who can drive teams on and maybe thats why fergie is looking for someone who can g-up a team when they playing crap i dont think he will be a bad signing though
I reckon they should sell him on ebay....

SUNDERLAND AFC - THE NORTH EASTS ONLY PREMIERSHIP TEAM
I am putting Michael Duberry on tonight for a reserve of 15p.
Emile Heskey has a better goal ratio then Alan Smith.
Emile Heskey is an established international.
Emile Heskey has won 5 major trophies.
Emile Heskey has a better disciplinary record.
So why would Smith be better ?

This is the same Alan Smith is it who's most recent girlfriend goes to the same gym and swore (weeks ago) he would never go to Man U becuase he was like the rest of us Leeds fans and referred to them as scum. I do wish Smudge well and understand he has to go but a real true Leeds fan as he claims would not go to the filth over the hills, it just makes him another average footballer.
from what I have seen - I am loooking forward to Saha and Ruud up front next season - think Saha has the quality to be come a real out and out goalscorerOriginally Posted by pratman
he is an average footballer - although for about 100 of his 300 or whatever Leeds appearances he has started in midfield - I just dont think he does enough to be rated a top class player. fair enough - he dug in for Leeds this season BUT if he loves em so much - then IMHO he would stay the season it could take to get them back in the Prem (even though its probably out of his hands)Originally Posted by shedsounds
I think United should be aiming a bit higher and buying established world class players if they going to challenge Arsenal next season
He doesnt dive about when he sees a defender near him?Originally Posted by webslinger2k
Goind points stated there, and facts are facts. I think Louis Saha scored more goals in his time at Man.U than Smith did over the last 2 seasons. Strange, worrying but true!
