For me it would have to be the US SNES. I had the UK and Jap ones as well but the US one was different. Although my Super Wild Card DX didn't fit as well on the US model

What (other than the obvious) was different on the US one? The Pads were different I remember, the buttons were different making it more difficult to rub them as fast as you could on games that required it.

The pads were different. The US ones had a mix of concave and convex buttons, the EU ones were all convex.

UK Megadrive, best console at the time because...........................its what i had!
You know he grew up as a little shitspark from the old shitflint and then he turned into a shitbonfire and driven by the winds of his monumental ignorance he turned into a raging shitfirestorm. If I get to be married to Barb I'll have total control of Sunnyvale and then I can unleash the shitnami tidal wave that will engulf Ricky and extinguish his shitflames forever. And with any luck he'll drown in the undershit of that wave. Shitwaves.
Megadrive had the advantage of been available in the UK nearly two years before the SNES.
I remember going to the local independent Games Store wanking over the Jap SNES and thinking I would never be able to get one..
I also remember wanking over games on the USA Megadrive (Rolling Thunder I think) going through the SCART connector at 60hz! Looked amazing back then.
I then had to go home and learn how to wank properly and not to do it in public or over games consoles.

Super Bomberman and a multi-tap.
That is all.
Yes Yes and Yes.
Used to play a lot on the Xbox with mame (SNES) emulators. It is amazing how many versions!! Trying to work out what is happening in a Jap version with Dinosaurs and the likes appearing!
And this was the Multitap to have http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BOMBERMAN-...item2ecb8f968b

Sold my neo geo aes earlier in the year to raise some funds. I really regret it now even though it rarely got played.
Snes was the best though. Some of the games still stand the test of time. Mario kart, mario world, yoshis island, street fighter 2 and zelda are some of my favourite games of all time.
I dunno what it was about the MD but whenever I saw one at other peoples houses they always looked scratched up and badly used, even in the early days and I never saw that with the SNES, I guess now the story is different as every snes bar a few looks like a block of cheese. The pad sockets looked cheap too, compared to the SNES's.
I had a PAL SNES at launch which I sold a few years down the line and got a s/h US one, and fuck me it was an ugly fucker but the transition from the botched scart output to 60hz RGB was so good I restarted tons of games just to play them at the right speed, with better colours and full screen on my new spunky scart powered 21" telly.
i was hooked on the mega drive since my auntie bought one for my cousin and they kept it at my house til xmas, my parents let me have a go because my auntie wanted to make sure it worked on the day, i had about an hour of altered beast, blew my mind (think i was 9), only having an Amstrad CPC 464 at the time it was unbelievable to me, pestered and pestered my parents for months after until they bought me one the following xmas but had to sell the 464 (shame but thats life) to help pay for it but amazing, only had a few games to start with but some classics i loved were (and any sequels obviously):
Quackshot
World Of Illusion
Castle of Illusion
Altered Beast
Alien Storm
Ghouls and Ghosts
Dick Tracey
James Pond
Sonic
Shinobi
Shadow Dancer
Golden Axe
Cool Spot
Streets of Rage
Thunder Force
Desert Strike
Urban Strike
Splatterhouse
Alex Kidd
Moonwalker
Earthworm Jim
Ecco
Mortal Kombat
Wonder boy
i have been collecting games for years but these (and all mario games pretty much) are the only cartridge based games i ever go back to, great memories

UK Megadrive with all the classic Sonic games good times as a child. When I grew up I stuck a couple of 60hz mod switches on it so I could finally see how slow the PAL versions of the sonic games were - thinking about it makes me want to unpack it and load it up instead of the PS3 which is gathering dust
