    Default CCTV POE

In a rush to catch the perp, im currently running an old mobile phone with "Alfred cam" to catch a local dog garden pooer, who has been letting there dog over peoples gardens and driveways.

Im now looking now to dip my toe into something better which i can easily integrate into my current network.

Im looking at a "8MP 4K POE IP Camera H.265" cam on Ali which is nice and cheap & easy to install.
As these POE dont come with any integrated storage (sdcard slot) i would like to use the USB device connected to my asus router currently running Asus Merlin CFW as its storage.
The router supports all my torrent D/L as well as a DLNA and FTP server.
Would i be correct in assuming the CCTV poe camera's have the controlling software for zones, white balance ect... built in, & all a NVR does is record ?

These are the two i was looking at>

It varies camera by camera, a lot of the cheap Chinese ones I ever came across were controlled using a web interface on the IP of the camera, but cameras designed to be deployed at scale tend to be controlled by the DVR or a cloud system. If the product page doesn’t specify, you should be able to ask the seller the question.

Yes, you are correct in assuming that most CCTV PoE cameras have controlling software for features like zones, white balance, and other settings built in. An NVR (Network Video Recorder) primarily functions to record the video feed from these cameras. So, you can use your Asus router with USB storage as the recording destination for the camera without losing control over camera settings like zones and white balance.
