So true, no matter what your political views, you would of wanted him on your side in a fight.

I wonder if they will replace any strikes with a day of mourning instead..

True that you would want him on your side, but the strikes did cause a few headaches to us commuters.

    It was character building
I remember walking to work on tube strike days, and it was 2 bloody hours each way (Cricklewood to Waterloo). Felt amazing, and I wasn't alone pounding the pavements.

I believe that was the point of the strikes. No point going on strike if it passes unnoticed.
He certainly was a man of principle, not one to buckle under pressure. He will be missed by many.

I used to either cycle or run in as an alternative so was not a huge problem. It did used to bring out the idiotic cyclists though...

I thought if the thread subject had [RIP] then respect should be shown ?

Wasn't there a discussion about it due to the distaste of members posts in such a thread ?

Yeah. It was my "lack of respect". Although to be fair.... I can't stand celebrity worship.

Back to Bob Crow.... I am afraid we live in a jealous society (irony or is it satire?), where people can't stand to see others get well paid or receive decent benefits from a job that doesn't take 10 years of school. The working class don't "deserve" to receive comfort or even to get more than a fair pay. People are snivelling wimps unable to work together to achieve a fairer share of the pie. Blacksheep is one of them. He is a lower grade manager with delusions of grandeur. He can't stand to see people who drive for a living earning more than him and receiving greater benefits when he is an IT "professional". I'm actually still waiting for him to point out my incorrect use of "your" in the last thread.

Bob Crow was a man of his people. The media crucified him and the small minded bought it. But... As Ken Livingstone said (a man I am not a fan of)... It's the only job that is open to the working classes with no education, where you can be paid a decent wage and receive decent benefits. That's not a bad obituary, is it?!?

I wasn't going to comment on this thread, as I won't persuade anyone to the benefit of unionising and standing together... I also make myself a target to the mock right that visit this forum.

Unlike the shocking display we saw in the Thatcher death thread, I happen to think that opposition to someone's political standpoint is a piss poor reason to have a pop at someone's death.

    Thanks to MsDG

I can understand people's passion. But I agree. We also can't have one rule for a Tory and one for a socialist.

No, I just believe that when you're on a six figure salary then maybe you shouldn't be getting handouts from the country too (such as a council house) which less well off/more needy people could use.

Sorry, I've only been in the real working environment for about a sixth of the time Bob Crow had and am more than happy with what I earn. You are however right in me not thinking that its right that someone earning my salary or more gets benefits. I don't know why you put professional in quotes as I get paid for my services so by the definition of the word, I am a professional.

The whole your/you're thing - just to prove you couldn't refrain from answering.

He was never a man of the people, he was someone who looked after number 1 and used others to get what he wanted - all traites of a sociopath...
