How to make a nexus7 child safe?

Just wondering what people use to make sure there kids don't stumble over dodgy stuff whilst on the internet?

I've bought my son who is age 6 a nexus7 for xmas, at first i thought we would be in the same room with him whilst he's playing on games etc so i could monitor what he is up to which is the case most of the time.....
When on the odd occasion he is left on his own I've been unplugging the wireless bridge or switching off the wireless on the tablet just to make sure he doesn't stumble over any midget porn etc.
Is there any decent apps out there?

Had this problem at school, kids accessing apps removign stuff etc so found a app called AppLock.

You can lock everything down and enter a pin if you need access.
so you install the apps you want the kids to play everything else is locked down.

Plug isn't referring to the actual game minecraft but the bloody videos of people playing the game on YouTube that my daughter in particular spends hours watching. I make her watch them with head phones on as stampys voice sends me nuts.

This is what i use for my 5 year old. She was waking up early and watching disney toy videos at 5am! If we hid the tablet shed just wake up and play anyway so we installed this and set what time her tablet can be used.
