Default Best way to wire this?

whats the best way to connect these wires up? keeping in mind the connections have to be hidden in a 16mm stainless steel tube, so choc blocks are out of the question... im no electrician but i can join a few wires so any help would be appreciated.

each lamp coming off the light has 2 wires, and i know my earth has to be somwhere on the structure. im thinking a bolt placed through one of the base holes would be an ideal earthing point.

could i use something like this to connect the 3 brown wires of the lights to the live, and likewise the 3 blue wires to the neutral, and have some heatshrink around the connections? im under the impressions connecting 3 wires into one of these isn't safe?

I would use some 2 core oval cable for inside the tube going to each light. 3 amp cable is more than up to the job. For connecting them all together I like to use closed end crimp connectors but the double ended ones like the ones in your picture will do the job. Just make sure there is no exposed copper and maybe use some heatshrink sleeving over them as well.

As long as there is very good metal to metal contact between the stand and the lamps one earth connection to the base should be fine.

Use 6 amp three core from the wall socket to the lamp base. Fit a 3 amp fuse in the plug. (">

nice one mate. i had already bought some 3 core cable (hd3vv-f 3g0.5mm), i suspect this is ok, but i dont have the box anymore. also wired it up to a 13amp plug, but i did suspect this was way too much....

Wire in series with all terminations at the rear of each lamp, that way you only have one feed to contend with and then you put inline a switch and end with a plug.

making the terminations at the end of each lamp will be difficult as the lamps will be welded on and not easily removed.... the above is the way i was thinking ... with the cable terminations at the base of the light...

That's the way. I see you have removed the outer pvc covering which is fine because it is enclosed in the tube, but make sure there are no sharp areas where the lamps connect to the tube or anywhere else that may cut through the single insulation. (">

because the lights were part of a ceiling light, there was no outer insulation - but what i may do i put a run of heat shrink over it for extra protection

In the diagrams you have them wired in parallel, in your photo they are wired in series. I would wire them in parallel (all blues joined together and all browns joined together)
If nature always takes the easiest route, what's easier...?
The creation of billions of galaxies each containing trillions of stars each with their own solar systems, some with planets that have evolved civilisations with billions of different life forms. OR The creation of just your imagination?

    2 Thanks given to Soulassassin

Why would you wire them in series, unless you like a very dim light.
As per "Soulassassin", all blues together, all brown's together i.e wired in parallel.

    Thanks to spraky

    P.S.
I would use these "Wago" connectors to join the wires in the base, provided you have a bit of room. Very handy, better than those crimps (imho) and no tools required.

If they fit inside a 16mm stainless tube that would be great!
