Help NDS Files, R4/Acekard, Ease of use etc im so confused!

Now as far as i can see, it seems pretty easy to work. But, seeing as i dont have money to waste on unneccesary cards, how easy is it to obtain working NDS files to use with this system?
i got a few off torrents today and tried them on some of the popular DS emulators to check the files and so far the emulators are all crashing and fucking up. now ive no idea about how this stuff works and tbh it'd be good to see a decent tutorial with easy instructions for noobs like i, who get easily lost in the technical terms used. if it doesnt work on an emulator, there's a good chance it'll not work on a DS correct? or what? do emulators only work with certain files. at the times they do load without crashing, they just stay blank. im at the end of my fucking patience and im getting stressed with it! if it's going to be this difficult if i buy my acekard or whatever, then im not going to bother!

any help and advice is appreciated, and if there are other threads on this subject, please point me to them because i cant be fucked seeing posts that say "try searching" because i dont know what to search for im so confused.

    thanks

    Spoiler:
ps wtf is this new thing when im making a post suggesting other "related" posts? what the fuck does the fact that frankincense can ease arthritis have to do with this stuff?

emulators geneally dont work very well, as far as i know every rom works off a flashcard solution as well as it does off a real shop bought cart.

the acekard, r4 and so on really couldnt be any easier to use, you get a blank microSD card, format it to fat32, copy the required system files onto it which are available in the sticky on here and then throw your roms onto the card, thats it.

wow speedy replies. thanks guys it is as straightforward as i imagined. the info is so surrounded by garbage i cant make out what is useful or not. there needs to be a guide that says "do this, then download this, put that on there, shove that in there, stick it in your DS, done."

    cheers guys

Just buy your card of choice, download the latest software for it, stick that on the mem card along with some roms / games. Done

It really is very easy mate

Loads of places you can download them from

    https://www.quantronics.com.au/esupp...temid=50&nav=0

    http://r4ds.cn/download/r4.html

Ask on here once you have your card in hand if your not sure.

Don't think there have been any problems with r4's or acekards - there were some dodgy n5's (I think) that bricked some DS's

Just a word of warning - the TTDS (tough toy DS - a type of card) have been failing miserably when it comes to circumventing the copy protection on the latest Chrono Trigger release - the patch to work around this prevention is bricking the TTDS (According to some folk at GBAtemp).

i heard it was wiping the sd card, not bricking the actual TTDS. Its still a crap card in my opinion though, for a few quid more yu can get a MUCH better product. They were only popular at first becasue they were so cheap and supported larger SD cards, no point at all now.
