Cameron aide arrested in 'child abuse imagery' inquiry



One of David Cameron's aides has been arrested on suspicion of an offence "relating to child abuse imagery", Downing Street has said.

Patrick Rock resigned from his post on 12 February.
Number 10 said it had been made aware of a potential offence and immediately referred it to the National Crime Agency (NCA), which arrested Mr Rock at his home a few hours later on 13 February.
The NCA has not confirmed the arrest.
A Downing Street spokesman said that following Mr Rock's arrest, it "arranged for officers to come into Number 10 [to] have access to all IT systems and offices they considered relevant".
The prime minister was immediately informed following the discovery of potential child abuse imagery and kept updated throughout, he said.
He added: "This is an on-going investigation so it would not be appropriate to comment further, but the prime minister believes that child abuse imagery is abhorrent and that anyone involved with it should be properly dealt with under the law."

I refer the honorable gentleman to the reply I gave some moments earlier. As said in another thread I think (based upon looking around some conspiracy sites) that this sort of stuff runs/has run pretty deep at the top of the British establishment for a considerable time (decades). I also think the security services know who/what/where and when....but use it for their own agenda. (As I already stated in the Hariet Harmen thread).

Are they now going to try and make out the victim(s) is over 16? I do not understand the wording the BBC are using here? Why are they appearing to cover their arse? Why not use the term 'incident images' ?
As for checks etc.. It is making out here that this is recent and has been done in the offices and is not something historic?

All sounds a bit odd.

Maybe they are expecting some kind of defence that it was part of his work.

That was my original thought... If he was working on it then surely he would have to be exposed to it in order to know what he was working against.

It doesn't but as always with politicians there's plenty of 'wriggle' room around errors of judgment rather than criminal intent.
